A woman who works at a nursery has had her long blonde locks chopped off to help a charity.

Jasmyn Rich, 22, who works at The Rocking Horse Nursery in Stamford, bravely took a seat in the hairdressers chair at Smithy’s in Kesteven Road, Stamford, on Saturday and said farewell to three plaits measuring 14 inches!

The hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs for children suffering from hair loss.

And since Jasmyn also learned that the cost of making a wig is about £350, she has also been fundraising for the charity to help with the costs.

On Friday last week, children and staff at the nursery got behind her and a wig day was held to raise funds with everyone making a donation in return for wearing a funky wig.

Jasmyn, of Bradshaw Close, said: “I work with children on a daily basis and know how much hair can mean to some of them. So if I can help a child get a real hair wig when they are going through such a hard time, it is really worth it.

“I was nervous when the first plait was cut off but once it was all done I was proud of myself and I am so pleased that I chose to have it done for charity.”

She thanked everyone who had donated to her cause and in particular her colleagues at the Rocking Horse, as well as Leanne at Smithy’s, who donated the cost of her haircut and highlights to the charity.
