A MUSICIAN is holding a jazz night as a fundraising event for a friend - but hopes the evening will kick off a new monthly music venture for Stamford.

Saxophone player John Stebbings, of Ketton, has organised the gig for Tom Jackson of Whitwell who will be running marathons in London and Paris next month in aid of Get Kids Going, a charity for disabled children.

It will be held at the 7 Sins upstairs bar in Cheyne Lane on Sunday, April 8 at 7pm with The John Stebbings Quintet.

Joining John will be Ben Lowman (sax), Sam Vicary (bass), Steve Hanley (drums) and Greg Vincent (piano). They will play John Coltrane arrangements, some jazz standards and some of John’s own material.

Admission will be £5 on the door.
