Post Office in Stamford temporarily closed

By Mercury reporter

A Post Office in Stamford has temporarily closed.

The office in Kesteven Road has been temporarily closed since May 30.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Kesteven Road Post Office.

“We would like to reassure customers that the decision to suspend services at any of our branches is never taken lightly, and we will only do so when it is warranted.

“We are committed to providing a Post Office in the area and we are looking to see how we can restore Post Office services to the area as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, alternative branches for Ksteven Road are All Saints, Stamford, Sutherland Way, Stamford and Ryhall.”

The closure has come as a blow to the many residents who have come to rely on it.

One Stamford pensioner who asked not to be named, said: “I went to drop a parcel off at the Kesteven Road Post Office only to discover it was closed when I got there.

“I’m a bit unsteady on my feet, so I can’t walk to the other ones in the area, and I have nobody to take the parcel for me.

“It’s incredibly frustrating as it was a lifeline for many people.

“Luckily my parcel isn’t time sensitive, so it will keep for a couple of weeks, but many people aren’t so fortunate.

“The closure is terribly inconvenient.”

The Post Office has given no indication how long the temporary closure will last, or if the office will reopen.
