A community has rallied round to support a Market Deeping couple who lost nearly everything in a house fire.

Already, more than £5,000 has been raised for the couple, after their bungalow in Beech Close was devastated by the blaze on Saturday, August 8

Joe Wray set up a Crowdfunding Page to help them rebuild their property and said he is staggered by how much has been raised already, so much so that the target has been upped to £7,500.

He said: “It’s incredible. I just wanted to do something to help them get back on their feet. I thought ‘I need to do something’ and just sort of flung it out there. I put originally the target to raise £1,000 and it’s now well over that.”

A separate Facebook page has also been set up by the couple’s neighbour and is called ‘Donations for Beech Close couple’.

The kindness of both strangers, and the local community to help the couple rebuild their home, has been overwhelming.

Joe added: “A boiler engineer and plumber has said once it gets to the point of it being ready to be installed he will not charge.

“Devonports in Deeping have said ‘you can have a new kitchen and bathroom on us'.”

Others who are helping out include Branch Bros, builders, decorators and a garden centre.
