Wool Zone’s weekly knitting group has been working hard all summer helping Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland to meet their Big Knit target of 40,000 little hats.

The group, which meets at Wool Zone in Northgate, Oakham, on Wednesdays, has created a range of designs for the Innocent Big Knit, including some fetching and festive grey and silver hats all ready for Christmas!

The hats will adorn Innocent smoothie bottles and the initiative supports Age UK by donating 25p for each bottle sold wearing a hat.

Funds raised will be used to help older people through the winter months.

Owner of Wool Zone Julie Beardwell said: “The hats are so simple to make that we’ve been able to send hundreds to Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland.”

Lisa Jackson, Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland’s Development Worker for the Oakham area thanked the group for its support, which she said was invaluable.
