Margaret Miles, High Sheriff of Rutland, visits Brooke Hill Academy to explain her role to the pupils

Brooke Hill Academy welcomed Margaret Miles, the High Sheriff of Rutland to their school on Monday, October14, writes Kerry Gray.

Mrs Miles hosted an assembly with the children where she explained how she became our present High Sheriff and how the role corresponds with other positions of responsibility within both the community and the school.

The children were extremely inquisitive and wanted to know all about the uniform that Mrs Miles wore, her responsibilities and why she carried a sword.

Mrs Miles commented how impressed she was with how keen and inquisitive the children were with their questions and noted it was lovely to see how articulate and independent our children are.

Following the assembly Mrs Miles toured the school with Mr Westley, head of school, visiting children from pre-school to Year 6 where she took time to speak to the children answering several more questions on the way round!

Brooke Hill Academy look forward to welcoming Mrs Miles back to school in the future.
