Letter of the week: Concerns at repeat prescription ordering service

More news, no ads

A letter in response to prescription service changes in Stamford.

I am very concerned at certain changes being brought about by Lakeside Healthcare, namely the cessation of being able to order repeat prescriptions by telephone, (the alternative being use an online system or the NHS app) and not being able to make appointment to see a doctor. We are to call surgery and request a call back by a doctor, if we don’t have the online service Doctrin.

I witnessed an incident in the reception, where this elderly couple obviously wanted to make an appointment and were repeatedly told quite sharply to go home an use Doctrin. I doubt if they even knew what it was. Is there no room for initiative to be used by the person dealing with them.? It was stressful to watch.
