Letter of the week - 'We still need to fight Mallard Pass proposals'

More news, no ads

It is now nearly seven months since we first learned of the proposal to put a solar farm of such gigantic proportions in our local area. Hundreds of man hours have been put into working on putting a campaign together for fighting the proposal.

A second consultation period was supposed to be running, starting last Thursday, May 26, for 10 weeks, through to August 4. This has turned out to be farcical, with the three main community information points, missing important documents for people to be able to look at, and a very slow and poor ‘mail out’ of 13,000 Statement of Community Consultation leaflets, ( my copy arrived this morning, Tuesday).

The main A4 consultation document, which we asked to to be mailed out to all households, we’re not, and have only arrived in small quantities (as few as 50), in the Community Access Points, (CAP),of which Essendine as the central hub, has so far received none, which is appalling, given that we are in the middle of this monstrosity! This is a ‘drop in the ocean’ to what is actually required, to give all residents the basic information needed, to be able to give further feedback. Stamford meantime have had 150 of the main consultation documents delivered and they are hardly in the thick of the proposed area!
