A bolt of lightning struck a home in South Witham yesterday, setting it alight.

At 4.18pm crews from Corby Glen and Grantham attended the blaze which caused damage to the roof of a house on Templars Way in the village.

Firefighters used a knapsack sprayer, cutting away equipment and thermal imaging camera to check the area for any hot spots.

They confirmed that the cause was a lightning strike.
