Lincolnshire County Council election results Bourne South and Thurlby: Conservative candidate will continue on council
A Conservative candidate has won the right to continue to represent Bourne South and Thurlby on Lincolnshire County Council.
Fighting for the position was Robert Reid (Con), the holder of the seat, and labour challenger, Bob Mumby.
Coun Reid gained the clear majority with 1,906 votes, while Bob gained 811 votes.
Coun Reid said: "I'm delighted and thrilled to be re-elected. I look forward to continuing to work for the interest of all my residents."
While campaigning was different this year due to Covid-19 restrictions and concerns surrounding door-knocking, coun Reid is certain the hard work paid off.
"I love talking to people and have missed that interaction.
"I know it's not been outlawed but for the safety of everybody I refrained from doing so.
"I've been out and about within the ward and shops in the community, and I am always pleased to talk to anybody with issues."
Coun Reid also described himself as a 'triple threat' as he holds a position on the town council, district council and county council, giving him the ability to tackle issues residents have.
