A FISH and chip shop charity day raised £1,500 for good causes.

Linfords in Market Deeping sold cod and chips at a special price of £3 on Sunday last week and donated the proceeds to a number of local organisations.

The shop gave £500 each to the Mayor of Market Deeping Bob Broughton’s charity fund, the Fisherman’s Mission and local fundraiser Mike Shattock.

Coun Broughton will split the money between the Deepings Men’s Group and the Heart to Heart over 55s club.

He said: “It was a very generous gesture and £500 will go down very nicely.”

Linfords owner Paul Linford added: “It was through the generosity of our customers that we were able to donate the money.

“All the staff gave two hours of their time for free to help out. We hope to do it again next year.”
