Little Bytham to host first annual farm run – the LB5K

An organic farm in Little Bytham will be opening its doors, or gates. to host a new annual event – the LB5K Farm Run.

The course will take in the farm's tracks and byways through its fields, and has been designed to cater to cater to runners of all abilities.

The run will take place on Sunday, May 27th, and is due to start at 11am.

Entry costs £5 per runner, with all proceeds going to the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and Little Bytham's Village Hall and church.

Farmer and co-organiser John Turner said: "This is the first time we've organised something like this. We felt the run is a nice way for people to come and see the farm from a different perspective and enjoy what it has to offer. Late May is probably one of the best times to see the farm and we have some interesting crops growing this year.

"We have chosen and created a course that should make for a memorable day, and it will suit everyone from committed athletes to those who will be setting a more leisurely pace in the company of their dog.

"It's a really nice way to raise money for very good causes too. I know of three occasions when people in the village have needed the services of the air ambulance, and the church and village hall are an integral part of village life. Hopefully this event will help all of them."

Organisers are encouraging people to register in advance at www.lb5k.org to avoid queues on the day and recommend arriving in plenty of time to allow for signing on and collecting their wristband.

Free parking is available and the village hall will be hosting a bag drop and toilet facilities. Refreshments will also be available at Sheepdyke House.
