Lunch will help Uppingham to bloom

A town can display more flowers this year thanks to a lunch in aid of its In Bloom scheme.

The Winter Warmer Lunch at Uppingham Town Hall was attended by about 90 people on Saturday and thanks to their donations and a raffle it raised £683.

Deputy chairman of Uppingham in Bloom, Sue Streeter said: “We were thrilled by the number of people who supported the lunch and our chairman, Miranda Jones, and I thank everyone for attending. The wonderful amount raised will help fund our projects to revamp the sensory garden at Tod’s Piece and to plant our new flower beds commemorating the First World War.”

In Bloom will hold a plant sale and open gardens in Uppingham on May 26.
