A bride and groom celebrated their big day in true fairytale style with a Disney-themed wedding.
Jayne Peters, of Queen’s Road, Oakham, fulfilled her dream on Saturday when she walked down the aisle as Cinderella to meet and marry her Prince Charming.
The 32-year-old is a lifelong Disney fan and thankfully her husband-to-be Kevin was more than happy for her to have the magical day she’d always dreamed of.
She said: “I’m Disney mad. I’ve got four Disney tattoos and our house is full of Disney things. I just love everything about it.
“People who know me well weren’t at all surprised that I wanted a Disney wedding and said it suits me down to the ground. Others weren’t sure what to think but I thought it would be fun.”
Jayne had her Cinderella dress custom-made in China, Kevin wore a blue suit like Prince Charming and the couple’s children each dressed as their favourite Disney characters.
Chloe Furner, 15, dressed as Minnie Mouse while Samuel Furner, 13, and Terry Slater, seven, dressed as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. Ellie Dalby, nine, wore a Rapunzel costume while Charlie Dalby, seven, and Kodi Peters, two, dressed as Sulley and Mike from Monsters Inc.
Guests also arrived at Oakham Register Office dressed as a range of colourful characters and danced to songs from the films at the reception in Victoria Hall.
Jayne said: “Everyone’s reaction when they saw my dress was just ‘wow’. I would have loved to have arrived in a coach like Cinderella but it just wasn’t possible.
“I’m really glad we went with the Disney theme. It was a good day but it went so quickly.”
The event was a double celebration for Kevin, who has muscular dystrophy, as he also turned 57 on the day.
The couple have never visited Walt Disney World but it is their dream to go one day.
