A 78-year-old man has died after possibly falling ill at the wheel of his car and crashing.
Police were called at 6.20pm yesterday (Wednesday) after a blue Suzuki Wagon crashed into a lamppost in Priory Road, Stamford, close to the Morrisons roundabout.
The 78-year-old driver, who lived in the area, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Suzuki was the only vehicle involved.
Investigations are ongoing but police believe the man may have fallen ill at the wheel.
Priory Road and part of Uffington Road, up to its junction with Pinfold Lane, were closed until about 10pm.
Anyone who saw the crash should call police on 101, quoting incident number 352 of April 24.
