Man and woman from Corby charged after police swoop on Uppingham street

A man and a woman have now been charged with theft after police swooped on a road in Uppingham on Monday (January 27).

Officers arrested three people in the area of Old School Mews in the Rutland town shortly before lunchtime.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 34-year-old man from Corby has now been charged with two counts of theft and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates Court on February 13.

The charges relate to an incident at a store in Uppingham on December 28 last year when candles and beauty products were stolen and theft of meat from a shop in Oakham on January 3.

A 40-year-old woman from Corby has also been charged with one count of theft and will appear at the same court on February 28. Her alleged offence relates to an incident at a premises in Oakham on December 19 last year.

A 52-year-old man, of Corby, arrested on suspicion of theft, has been released under investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.
