A man killed in a crash on the A1 at Wittering on Monday has been named by police.

Barry Rowland, (54), of Melbech Drive, Chester Le Street, Ouston, County Durham, suffered fatal injuries after the Audi A5 he was driving collided with a stationary lorry in a layby at about 3.45pm.

Barry’s daughter and her partner were also in the car at the time of the collision. Both were taken to Peterborough City Hospital with minor injuries and kept in overnight, but discharged yesterday morning (Tuesday).

Anyone who saw the incident happen or the Audi in the moments leading up to the collision should contact the roads policing unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
