Market Deeping Mayor's Ball is a sell-out success

The Market Deeping Mayor’s Ball proved to be a huge success on Saturday evening as more £2,000 was raised for charity.

Around 120 people packed into Sissons Barn in Peakirk for the sold-out event that capped off the mayoral year for David Shelton and his wife and Mayoress, Nicky.

The money raised will be split between David’s chosen charities of Dementia Support South Lincs and the funding of equipment for children with special needs at William Hildyard and Market Deeping Primary Schools.

A delighted David, said: “It went fantastically well.

“During my mayoral year, Nicky and I have been to numerous civic functions and these gave us a real indication of what to do for our evening.

“In the past, there have been dinner dances of about 50 so we thought we would do something bigger.

“There were three things that really stood out for me on the night.

“We had 10 tables of 12 and once the guests sat down, the place was buzzing right from the start.

“When we finished at 11.30pm there was still as great atmosphere. I had never been to a function where there we so many people there are the end.

“I’d also never seen so many people dancing at a function.”

Music was provided by the band Off the Record, the food by John McGinn, chef at the Dog in a Doublet pub and the tables were packed with people including civic dignitaries, members of the local business community and InvestSK.

The raffle included seven high-quality prizes and raised £1,200 for David’s charities.
