Darts legends Martin “Wolfie” Adams will be granted the freedom of Deeping St James at the village’s annual parish meeting.

The three-time BDO World Champion will become the first person to receive the honour at the meeting on May 19.

Deeping St James Parish Council has used the event to present its Making a Difference awards in recent years.

Councillors try to recognise the efforts of individuals, young people and community groups, and also offer village organisations the chance to talk about what they have been doing that year.

But this year the council hopes to add extra interest by awarding Wolfie the freedom of the parish of Deeping St James.

The meeting will be held in the conference centre at the Deepings School in Park Road from 7.30pm on May 19.

There are three categories in the Making a Difference awards: citizen, individual under 18 and community group. The prizes will be presented by local triathlete and under 20s Team GB member Kayleigh Adams.
