PEOPLE in Bourne can expect to see a new police community support officer on the beat.

Officer Neil Atkinson, 44, has joined the Bourne and Billingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Officer Atkinson is enjoying his new role and said: “I am looking forward to making a positive contribution to the local community.

“And if people in the town have got any concerns, I want them to be able to come to me so I can help.”

Officer Atkinson previously worked as a health care support worker in a psychiatric hospital.

Before this he spent nearly 20 years working in local government, latterly in the community safety sector in Newark.

He said: “My work within community safety gave me a real interest in crime reduction which is what led me to finally applying to become a police community support officer.”

Officer Atkinson, who is married with two children, is now looking forward to his role with neighbourhood policing team.

There are now four police community support officers covering the Bourne and Billingborough area: Graeme Parrott, Sandra Brommell, Eamonn Mclean and Neil Atkinson.
