A memorial service will be held at All Saints Church in Oakham on Thursday, March 17, to celebrate the life of Councillor Roger Begy.

Coun Begy passed away on Monday, February 1, after a short battle with cancer.

The memorial service is open to anyone who wishes to pay their respects to Coun Begy, who was the longstanding ward member for Greetham and served as leader of Rutland County Council for more than 12 years.

The service starts at 2pm and will be followed by light refreshments at Rutland County Museum. All are welcome.

Coun Begy’s funeral last month remembered him as a loving family man to wife Sandy, sons Nick and Greg and grandson Will, and warm tributes were paid. It was standing room only at St Mary’s Church in Greetham for the hour-long service.
