AN ACTOR has thanked generous Mercury readers for supporting his new show.

Christopher Birks, 24, appealed for help in May to raise £4,000 to take his show, The Questionnaire, to the Edinburgh Fringe festival in August.

His theatre company, Ninth Life, now has £3,200 with £1,500 of that donated by generous Mercury readers.

Former Stamford School pupil Mr Birks is hoping to raise the remaining money at a fundraiser in Stamford Corn Exchange.

The company has been invited to perform the show, which he has written, in the theatre on Friday, July 29.

Mr Birks said: “The response to the appeal has been fantastic.

“In Edinburgh we will be performing to 55 people a night where in Stamford it will be to 400.

“It will be nice to say thank you.”

Tickets to the performance, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £5 with concessions £4. To book call the box office on 01780 766455.
