Castle Bytham Midsummer Fair 2019 will include Battle of Britain Memorial Flights
Castle Bytham is preparing for a weekend of fun over June 22 and 23.
The two-day Midsummer Festival promises a treat for adults and children alike.
Traditionally held on the weekend nearest to midsummer, this year’s falls on June 22 and 23 and will kick off on the Saturday with a 5k trail run and then feature an open village event with garage sales and an historic village walk, all on the Saturday morning.
This will be followed in the afternoon and evening by a full and varied line up of live music including local bands Dirty Rumour and The Undefined.
Throughout the day there will be kid’s entertainment with bubbles and face painting.
On Sunday June 23 the street market will open at 9am with 60-plus stalls selling local produce, crafts, home and gardenware, jewellery, clothes and much more.
The family entertainment that day will feature high jinks from Bill Brookman, music, dancing, magic, tug of war, bouncy castle, birds of prey, tractor display, duck race and fun dog show.
On both days there will be lots of good food and drink – barbecue, veggie, tea and cakes, real ales, gins and wine – and on Sunday the village hall café will be open from 9am for bacon butties, followed by light lunches and afternoon teas.
Both days will feature a fly-past from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, with a Hurricane on Saturday and the Lancaster on Sunday.
The Midsummer Festival is free to enter with no charge for parking. Proceeds from the festival go to help local causes.
