The landlords of a village pub have transformed its fortunes since they took over two years ago.

John Wheeler and Anne Fisher set out to make The Royal Oak Hotel in Duddington a venue that the whole family could enjoy.

Since taking over in September 2013 they have introduced a weekday lunch deal of two courses for £12.95. They set up a steak night on Wednesdays and brought in a 20 per cent food discount deal on Mondays and Tuesday evenings.

They have also branched into live music, hosting nights with X Factor finalist Nicole Lawrence that have proved popular with customers.

And all these changes have clearly paid off, with the pub and hotel winning a certificate of excellence from user review website TripAdvisor.

Following last week’s article we are happy to clarify that John and Anne are leasing the pub from Alan Freeman.
