The mystery of Subway's closure is solved
The sudden closure of Subway in Stamford is down to the franchise-holder leaving.
The sandwich take-way in High Street had displayed a note on Monday (April 15) explaining that it has an issue with equipment and will be closed 'until further notice'.
A person living nearby had also expressed concerns about sewage smells, which had been discussed with Subway to see if they were coming from the property.
However, a spokesman for Subway based in London said that they were looking for someone new to take on the Stamford franchise.
They added: "We can confirm that the store closure is not related to issues with sewage or equipment failure, but the franchise owner leaving the business to pursue another opportunity elsewhere.
"The store is currently accepting and reviewing applications to take on the franchise."
The note that has now been removed.
