Police want to remind the public about the free on-line national property register Immobilise that can help reunite stolen items with the rightful owner.

Immobilise can be used by all members of the public and businesses to register their belongings and company assets. By registering valuables on to Immobilise, if items are taken and then recovered the details can be compared via the register and returned to the owner.

It is used by all police forces and enables recovery from across the whole of the UK - property is often recovered from searches but it is then not possible to link the items with owners.

It is also a convenient way to record serial numbers and model numbers to assist in any insurance claims that be need to be made.
