A Nepalese restaurant in Stamford is hosting a charity dinner this evening (Tuesday) following the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

Staff at The 8848 in Broad Street, Stamford, who have family in the heart of Nepal, have organised the charity dinner to help raise vital funds to help those that have been so badly affected by the quake.

Tonight’s dinner follows a successful evening held at the restaurant last night (Monday) which raised over £700, with 50 per cent of the overall takings along with all of the staff’s wages going towards those in need.

The restaurant is still taking bookings for tonight’s meal which will be a buffet priced at £20 per head. Again, 50 per cent of the takings will go to Nepal.

Alongside the dinner, staff are also selling raffle tickets on behalf of Robert Loomes and Co. who has generously offered to raffle of one of the £4,000 expedition wristwatches in aid of the Nepal disaster.

Tickets are £10 each with all of the proceeds going towards both The Mountain Trust and The Gurkha Wellfare Trust. The winning ticket will be drawn by Joanna Lumley on May 29 in London.

To book a table for tonight’s meal please telephone the restaurant on 01780 767600.
