Plans have now been lodged to create a £1 million community hub in a Rutland village.
If approved, the new facility in Barrowden will feature a modern village hall and space to accommodate the doctors’ surgery and community-run shop.
The existing hall was built in 1927 and is fast approaching the end of its life, while the shop is housed in a temporary prefabricated unit and the surgery is in a dated 1970s building.
