Castor Lodge Care Home is opened by Shailesh Vara MP at the former Woodlands sports and leisure centre
A new care home which brings 60 new jobs has been officially opened.
Castor Lodge was opened by Shailesh Vara, MP for North-West Cambridgeshire (Con), chairman of Country Court care homes Abdul Kachra, and mayor of Peterborough Stephen Lane on Friday last week.
Thanking their guests for attending and Mr Vara for cutting the ribbon, Mr Kachra said: “We are very proud of our latest care home and thank everyone involved in the development and opening.
“As a family-run company, we look forward to Castor Lodge becoming an integral part of the community in Castor, providing the kind of care we would want all of our loved ones to receive.”
The care home is able to provide homes for 70 people and will provide residential care, support for people living with dementia and short-term respite care.
The home has several restaurants and private dining rooms, a cinema and a pub.
Castor Lodge is County Court’s 33rd care home - the firm, based in Peterborough, already operates Rose Lodge in Market Deeping and Tallington Lodge in Tallington. Castor Lodge is the site of the former Woodlands Sports Centre in Splash Lane.
The home will provide new jobs and Mr Vara said he is pleased that this will help the local economy.
He added:“I was impressed with the facilities available, which cater for accommodation as well as residential and social needs.
“Much thought has gone into the design and set up of the care home and it will be a valuable addition for the local area and community.”
