LINCOLNSHIRE is getting a new carers group for people with learning disabilities.
Cast, the county’s existing community assertive support team, is behind the group which aims to bring people together to share experiences.
The new group will support families and carers, helping them identify ways of dealing with stress associated with supporting individuals with a long-term disability and with managing challenging behaviour.
Group organiser, assistant psychologist Evangelos Stephanopoulos, said: “Our new support group is open to everyone who could benefit from meeting and learning from others in similar situations.”
Monthly meetings, hosted by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust, will feature a guest speaker and will allow time for group interaction. Anyone who feels they could benefit is welcome to attend.
The first meeting is in Lincoln on Tuesday with subsequent meetings around the county, including one in Bourne on October 29.
