A former tae kwon-do world champion has described his new home as a ‘fairytale ending’ to the ‘horrific nightmare’ of losing a leg.

Last month, Dave Mears was one of the the first to move into one of seven new homes built for South Kesteven District Council, in Meadow Close, Bourne.

It is a far cry from a year ago when surgeons had to amputate his left leg below the knee after contracting osteomyelitis, a rare and serious condition.
