The owners of Juliano's hope their Bourne restaurant will be open in May 2020

The owners of a town’s new Italian restaurant hope it will be ready to open in three months' time.

Franco and Anna Juliano have taken over the shop in Bourne’s North Street which previously contained the Euro Food Shop. The couple already has a restaurant in Wharf Road, Grantham.

Signs with ‘Italian restaurant coming soon’ have appeared in the window.

Anna said: “We’re very excited about opening in Bourne.

“The main reason why we decided to open another restaurant is because there is no Italian in town.

“It’s difficult to say when it might open because the building needs a lot of work doing to it so it may be in three months' time. ”

Their Grantham eatery, which is rated 5-star and fourth out of 104 restaurants in the town on Tripadvisor, has just celebrated its ninth anniversary.

The couple had been searching for somewhere to showcase their cuisine in Bourne for two years; South Kesteven District Council granted them planning permission to convert the North Street unit in September last year.

Anna said they would be employing about five people on a shift and the restaurant would seat about 40 people.

“I just hope it will be as successful as the one we have in Grantham,” she added.

Next door to Juliano’s will be a Wetherspoon pub, which will go in the unit formerly occupied by the Jenny May and JH Wand shops.

The Watford-based pub giant says it will invest £2.5m into its new pub which will bring 45 jobs to the town.

Cycling festival likely to be cancelled this year.

Bourne could get Sunday market.
