Air base personnel welcomed a new station commander this week.

Group Captain Rich Pratley took over the reins of RAF Wittering from Grp Cpt Damian Alexander. Grp Cpt Alexander, 46, has been promoted to Air Commodore and will become head of logistics policy for the Ministry of Defence.

Under his guidance, RAF Wittering has successfully navigated a period of massive change. Most notably, the station has returned to flying and is now fulfilling an active role in the generation of future air power.

Grp Cpt Pratley, 44, has been in the RAF for more than 25 years.

Like his predecessor, he is an experienced logistics officer and is looking forward to his new job.

He said: “It’s an honour to be made the station commander at RAF Wittering, particularly at such an interesting and busy time in the station’s life.”
