New retailers opening doors in Stamford

A NEW independent interiors shop is opening in Stamford next week, among a host of new retailers opening their doors in the area.

Stamford may have lost Bonmache this week but H-Works, run by Heather and Alan Mowat, is opening in the former Black Bull pub in Stamford Walk on Friday, March 9,

Alan said: “We are very excited with it. It’s nice to see the old pub refurbished.”

“Its something we’ve been thinking about for over a year but we’ve been waiting for the right premises to become available.

The shop will deal in bespoke upholstery, fabric, linens, paint, wallpaper, curtains and blinds.

“We are trying to focus on local and focus on repair and mend rather than new.

“You should be able to come into our place and get everything you need to kit out a new room under one roof.

The couple previously owned an upholstery shop on St Leonards Street, Stamford.

In Bourne a new pawnbrokers and jewellers called The Jewellery Box is opening in West Street this month bringing three new jobs to the town.

Manager Cheryl Rose said: “I’m excited, nervous, apprehensive.

“We are in the middle of fitting the shop out and I’ve been interviewing for staff all day.”

Another empty building in West Street, Bourne, the former Pets Parlour shop, is currently being renovated, which property manager John Tookey at The Culshaw Partnership, who lets the building, believes will help attract a new business.

He said there are potential new tenants very interested in moving in.

In Oakham a new dress agency shop called Pink and Green has appeared in the High Street, in the former Jewellers AP Breeze building. It is yet to open.
