New Stamford mayor takes over the reins

Stamford's new major, coun Max Sawyer, has taken over the reins at Stamford Town Council after being sworn in at a special mayor making ceremony at the town hall.

He replaces outgoing mayor coun Tony Story.

The mayoress will be his wife, Audrey Sawyer, with coun Breda Rae-Griffin taking over as deputy mayor. Coun Mike Exton is the new deputy mayor's consort.

The new mayor's charities for the year are Marie Curie, Stamford Young People's Charity (Desforges Fund) and the Three Counties Dog Rescue.

The mayor's civic parade and service will be held on Sunday, June 24.
