A new vice-chairman has been elected to carry out civic duties on a council due to her 'competent' nature.

At a South Kesteven District Council meeting on Thursday last week (November 25), members were required to nominate a new vice-chairman, following Coun Ian Stokes resigning from the position after using a racial slur.

The role includes assisting the chairman, which is currently Coun Breda Rae Griffin, and representing the council at civic events.
