A NEW village hall is set to be built in Laxton thanks to a grant of £235,338 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The hall will be used for social activities including meetings, adult learning events and various leisure and education activities.

It replaces the old hall which is an ex-Second World War hut built in the 1920s.

Building work will start in the coming weeks and is expected to take between four to five months.

Tim Gilbert, chairman of Laxton Hall Village Committee, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Laxton and we’re all really pleased to receive the news that we can at last build a new village hall with great modern facilities.”
