Increase in number of people claiming benefits in Stamford, Rutland, Bourne, the Deepings and Grantham
The number of people claiming benefits has increased in the past month, but at a slower rate.
The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions reveal that on June 11 this year 1,949 people in Rutland were claiming universal credit, up four per cent on the previous month.
Between April and May the number of claimants in the county had leapt by 27 per cent.
