Oakham Railway Station ticket office closed
The ticket office at Oakham Railway Station was closed on Thursday, October 11, after an employee was reportedly off sick.
Oakham resident Norman Roberson said he had gone to the station on three occasions to purchase a ticket to London but had not been able to do so.
"There were no signs up and no explanation on why the ticket office was closed or when it would open again," he said.
A spokesman for East Midlands Trains said the office was manned by a third party contractor and an employee had been off sick with no cover in place.
"We're talking to the third party contractor and hope to have the matter resolved soonest," said the spokesman.
Norman said the closure of the office was a problem for people wanting travel advice for longer journeys.
"It's ok if you're going somewhere nearby then you can buy a ticket on the train, but when you're travelling further afield you may need to ask about changing trains," he said.
"You also cannot get train timetables when the office is closed."
