Oakham road will be one way for a month during gas works

An Oakham town centre road will become a one-way street for over a month while work is carried out on gas pipes.

National Grid will begin maintenance on its mains network on Tuesday. As a result Station Road will become a one-way street between Church Street and Burley Road.

Work is expected to continue until August 31, during which time traffic will be prevented from turning into Station Road from Burley Road. Waiting and parking along the stretch of road from Church Street to Burley Road will also be prohibited.

The changes will be in place continuously until the work is complete, although access will be maintained for premises along the road.

Drivers are advised to leave additional time to complete journeys in the area, although the work is not expected to cause significant delays.

Diversions will be in place for the duration of the closure. For more information about ongoing and future roadworks in the area visit www.roadworks.org.
