Pupils from Oakham School raised more than £5,000 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, by walking the 10 miles from the village of Clipsham back to Clipsham House at the school.

About 65 boys from Clipsham House took part in the walk, which had taken months of planning.

Head of house and deputy head boy Nick Davies said: “The event was in aid of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance - a brilliant charity which saves many lives. The charity also relies entirely on donations from the general public and it is also very closely connected to a few of the boys in the house, so we felt it is a charity that we would all be proud and willing to work hard to represent.”

Nick said the pupils were “extremely proud” to have raised money for the “incredibly worthwhile charity.”
