Oakham Skatepark is the first entry on a website designed to help communities promote skateboarding.

The story of how the park was built is featured on crowd-sourced website The Skateparks Project. The site was created by Alex Jordan, who grew up in Oakham. It brings together information provided by skatepark teams across the UK to help others create their own parks.

Alex said: “With Oakham being my hometown, I couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute than launching the directory with Oakham Skatepark as the very first entry.”

The website, at www.skateparks.co.uk, launched fully last month after a trial period.
