Members of the Royal British Legion formed a guard of honour at Barn Hill Methodist Church for the funeral of Eric Rawlings, 64, of Parkfield Road, Ryhall. The Rev Julia Dowding officiated and Barry Hibbs was organist.
Interment followed at Ryhall Cemetery.
Mr Rawlings died after losing his brave fight against cancer, which he never once complained about.
He was the son of Ken and Frances Rawlings and was educated at Empingham Primary School and Casterton Secondary School.
On leaving school he worked at Allis Chalmers. He later worked at Tempest Diesels, Knights Farm Machinery, Images and Editions and Ampy Automation. Just before his illness he was working for Hindmarch garage.
A member of the Royal British Legion, his interests included reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, DIY and Stamford Brass. He also loved walking with his two special dogs. He was a keen Manchester United fan and enjoyed playing golf and watching Formula 1 racing.
Bereaved are his widow Sylvia, who he married in 1970, son Jason, daughters Donna and Sonia, son-in-laws Mark and Peter and grandchildren Georgia, Ellie, Victoria, Patricia, Morgan, Katharina, Sophia and Scarlett.
