Alfred Wells

THE funeral service for Alfred Wells, of Dovecote Estate, Rippingale, took place at St Andrew’s Church, Dowsby, Anna Sorenson officiating. Mrs Hill was organist.

Mr Wells died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 82.

Son of William and Annie Wells, he was educated at Bourne Abbey Road School, and worked as a general labourer for the electricity board.

He served with the Army in the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, reaching the rank of sergeant.

He was a keen follower of many sports, including snooker, cricket, football and boxing and also enjoyed gardening and fishing.

During his Army career his sporting activities included boxing, water polo, cross country and swimming.

Bereaved are his widow Joan, daughters Ann, Jane and Jackie and son Paul.
