Aubrey Plowman

AUBREY Plowman, of East Street, Stamford, died at his home after a long illness, aged 81.

A Stamfordian, he was the son of Leslie and Florence Plowman, one of five children, and was educated at St Michael’s School, Stamford.

His working life began as an apprentice electrician with Stamford Electric Company. After doing National Service, he joined Harry Palmer’s electrical business, and then became manager for Feetham Electrical Contractors.

In the early 60s he started his own business, P K Maintenance, working on large housing projects for Jelson Builders. Many local people will remember his professional approach in any work he carried out.

His son, Ian, joined him in business and he was proud to say he worked until he was 79.

Aubrey was widowed in 1958, when his first wife Vilma died suddenly, leaving him with two small children.

In 1975 he married Hazel and spent the rest of his life living in Stamford.

He loved Stamford and was for some years an active member of Stamford Survey Group.

He was also a keen antique dealer, and for many years Aubrey and Hazel were regulars on the Antique Fair circuit.

A much loved husband, father, granddad and great granddad, he will be greatly missed.
