Bruce McAllen

THE funeral of Bruce McAllen, of Harrington Street, Bourne, took place at Bourne Abbey Church, the Rev Peter Lister officiating. Cremation at Grantham followed.

Mr McAllen died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 79.

Born in Leicester he attended Leicester Grammar School and worked as a painter and decorator before becoming a housing inspector for Bourne Urban District Council and South Kesteven District Council.

He served his National Service with the Army and civil defence.

For 17 years he served as a volunteer with St John Ambulance. He enjoyed watching wild life and nature programmes on TV and was a keen follower of Leicester City Football Club.

A beloved husband and father, he leaves his widow Margaret and sons Peter, Stuart, Andrew and Shaun.
