THE funeral service for retired rabbit farmer, Derek Burchnell, of Manthorpe, took place at Witham-on-the-Hill Parish Church, the Rev David Pratley officiating.
Mr Burchnell died at Manthorpe, aged 72.
Born in Pinchbeck, he was the son of Hurbert and Lillian Burchnell and was educated at Spalding Gleed School.
Before becoming a rabbit farmer he worked for Allis Chalmers (Industrial) and Allis Chalmers/Fiat Allis in their offices at Essendine. Later in life he became a general handyman.
He served his National Service with the RAF.
A member of the British Legion and Observer Corps he also enjoyed gardening and was an aircraft, steam engine, and old farm machinery enthusiast. He also followed motor sport.
