DEREK (Jack) Leaton, of Kingsway, Bourne, died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 64.

He was the son of Jack and Agnes Leaton and was educated at Deeping Schools.

A motor trader and businessman, he was a member of Stoke Rochford Golf Club and past captain and longest serving committee member. He was also chairman of South Lincs Golf League and a member of Highly Unlikely Golfing Society, MAA Golfing Society and the Bar Linkers Society.

An avid Posh supporter, he also enjoyed watching horseracing, cricket and most other sports, and walking with his dog Annie.

He enjoyed time with his friends and family and any function which involved charity events and loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren Ted and Joe.

He leaves his widow Sally, daughters Katie and Marie and son-in-law James.

Cremation at Marholm was followed by a celebration of his life at Bourne Abbey Church, the Rev Peter Lister officiated assisted by Mr Ernest Fytche. More than 500 people attended, showing the measure of Jack’s popularity in the community.
