The funeral of Eric Cook, formerly of Casterton Road, Stamford, took place at All Saints’ Church, Stamford, the Rev M Warrick officiating.

Eric died at the Red House Nursing Home, Emlyn Street, Stamford, aged 70.

He was the third son of four children born to Frank and Olive Cook and he attended St John’s School, and Bluecoat School, Stamford.

On leaving school he took up an apprenticeship with Clarke and Belton, as a painter and decorator, which he enjoyed for a number of years, he then ran his own bookmakers business for a while. Later he changed direction and worked at RAF Wittering as a maintenance worker for many years, until his retirement.

Eric was a member of many clubs, groups and churches in Stamford and made many friends in different parts of the community.

Bereaved are his brother Frank and sister Ann.
