George Crampton

THE funeral service for George Crampton, 82, of Cresswell Drive, Cottesmore, took place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Greetham, Diane Creasey officiating. Interment in the churchyard followed. Donations were shared between DLRAA (air ambulance) and the British Heart Foundation.

He was the son of Ernest and Julie Crampton, and was educated at Greetham School and Cottesmore Central School.

Mr Crampton worked as a lorry driver for RAF Cottesmore; Charlie Turner and Bullimores.

He served his National Service as a supervisor at the docks and railway sidings and spent time in Germany.

A churchwarden and bell ringer, he also loved cars. When he was younger he played football and was a keen Arsenal supporter. Later in years he enjoyed his garden and growing flowers.

Bereaved are his daughter Patricia and son Mark.
